Content Revisioning

Content Revisions are used in order to change content in the system, without changing the live content of a website. Revise a page, layout, template, or Pre-Defined Region individually. The admin can also preview revisions before publishing them. These revisions give the ability to have content approved, or viewed before making live changes.

Page revisions – A page revision is a way to change all content pieces on a single page without changing the actual live content.

Template revisions – A template revision is a way to make edits on a template, or change the HTML in a template without changing the live template in use.

Layout revisions – A layout revision is a way to change regions, and actual HTML code on a single layout without changing the actual live regions and HTML code.

Pre-Defined Region revisions – A pre-defined region revision is a way to change the templates used in a single PDR, without changing the PDR on the live site.

Note: Only a Page Revision can be previewed through the Page Preview link. All other revisions must be previewed through the Site Revision sub tab.

To preview page revisions, switch to the revision to be viewed and click Preview page. There is a string on the end of the url that shows which revision you are currently previewing. ?PageRevisionNo=1 is the string that allows you to preview the page revision. If that string is taken off, it will show the live page. To preview other content items such as layouts, templates, and PDR’s, the admin will have to use the site revision tool described in the support manual.

Note: You can revert back to previous revisions if needed. Do so by choosing the previous revision and click Publish. This is for individual revisioning only.
